A Ha

I actually spent some time working on the homework project, negative space. I was a bit intimidated at the beginning but then something clicked and I figured a way to betterShow the negative space. It will take some work that's okay--I'll be able to report hours worked on the project. I still have regular sketching to do as well.

Show And Tell

We handed our material in today for grading – – I did even though I'm just going through the motions I felt stress. We did more show and tell interestingly everybody had to share their just regular sketching work as well as the assignments. Everyone turns their horses around and puts their sketchpad where people can see their work. This is a little intimidating but kind of fun. I was surprised to got good remarks on my work.

Today's class was about negative space or drawing with negative space that's where you don't use lines to draw but you fill in everything which is considered "negative space" the area around the image. I found this task to be quite frustrating and difficult to do dolly from a academic standpoint but also from just the physical standpoint and I was using my big pad to do this with I sure didn't like the way my project came out which is my homework for the weekend. It was a magician exercise I'm glad to have done it but I think I did poorly, if you don't mind digging on the holiday.

Up Side Down… Work's Due

Tomorrow is the fourth meeting of the class, the end of the week, assignments due! When we left class on Tuesday our assignment was to finish any work we want to do on the bull skull and upside down lady and of course to record the time. I'm beside myself because as far as I'm concerned I'm done with both drawings aside from a whole lot of erasing I couldn't spend any more time on these really out nobody wants. Does he want me to refine it and refine it I'm just not sure – – I think I wrote this in this blog I'm not sure are the other blog but I can't figure out what these kids are spending hours and hours on their work doing.

As weird as it looks I'm kind of tickled on how my upside down lady came out. The book is right trying to draw them image upside down made for a very interesting piece of work. Now I'm somewhat excited to explore the other ramifications of the volume. The next assignment will be working with negative space which is kind of interesting to think about. I've actually considered this concept of sketching/drawing the outside of the image and leaving that image itself alone. I don't know how this will work out in the class setting that we'll see tomorrow. I'm not sure how Brendan will take my seeming lack of enthusiasm to do perhaps the best which could be done I'm willing to accept what I've learned so far be happy with that. The great doesn't matter if indeed I get a great all on audit.

The spent the afternoon or part of it working on the zipper pull on my portfolio. It just was not staying closed and I really need to have that zipper pull functional if I'm going to use The portfolio in all its glory. I have to say that the portfolio work great Tuesday as us caught in the rain storm holding it over my head like mortarboard from a graduation. It's nice not having to worry about a grade in this class that I'm taking certainly frees me up though makes me feel somewhat guilty for not doing more work. I still like my donkeys and my brutal art. And I plan to use the principles that all learned in this class and enjoy, more than anything else a place to be on Tuesday and Thursday mornings on a college campus. I was speaking with my daughter this evening letting her know that I was not sure what I would do when I was finished with this class. Eraser Head

I just took the test for chapter 4, I should've had done before class today but that was the instructors fault– – That's what he said not me. We spent the day working on the first drawing the Bulls skull and then we did the exercise right hand drawing on the upside down drawing. I actually read did a lot of the work on the skull. Maybe I'll do some more refining but tonight I spent a good 45 minutes erasing the smudges I'd already developed.The exercises kind of fun I was surprised that I was able to do the exercise and how well it turned out. Went over to the library again went downstairs and did the E portfolio. That sort of interesting.

What I don't get is how these kids are spending for five hours between sessions drawing on their sketches. I mean I do mind and I finish I think but rest of us spend more time Thursday and then they'll be handed in I guess for grading for those with That grades count. For me you know I am auditing that's exactly what I deserve…

In The Beginning…

This is my first post to Meadowlark's Art, a blog I will be writing about any significant art that I produce and immediately regarding my experiences in Drawing 1020 the class I'm auditing at the community college. Don't expect a lot right now this is a blog under construction. Not sure how I'm going to lay it out are what we'll start very shortly.
